10 Things You Need To Know Before The Pretty Little Liars Christmas Special

10 Things PLL M3

We are exactly two weeks away from the first-ever Pretty Little Liars Christmas special How The ‘A’ Stole Christmas and like a kid who has consumed an entire gingerbread house on their own, we are too excited to sit still. There’s going to finally be snow in Rosewood, the town of eternal Fall, and the dip in temperature is going to bring some truly chilling moments.

But before we watch the PLL version of Nightmare Before Christmas, there are 10 very important things to know.

Don’t miss ‘A’ putting the ‘fright’ in silent night when the Pretty Little Liars Christmas special airs Tuesday, December 9 at 8E/5P exclusively on M3.

10. This is the first Christmas episode. Past seasons have given PLL fans some reprieve during mid-season breaks by airing Halloween episodes, but this is the first time we’re getting a Christmas episode. Get ready to develop a fear of Santa Claus and beautiful Christmas trees, because we’re sure PLL is going to make everything menacing…and we can’t wait!

9. Spencer is out on bail. Arrested for the murder of Bethany Young, Spencer has decided to abstain from Christmas (but it’s the FIRST PLL Christmas!) since she’s out on bail for murder and doesn’t feel much like celebrating. Is there a chance that Spencer may be able to clear her name by the time the holiday’s are over?

8. Everything (and everyone) are out in the open.

For possibly the first time in five seasons, all four girls have laid their love cards on the table. Aria and Ezra are back together and no longer hiding their relationship status. Spody remain rock solid, Haleb are again making our hearts melt, and thankfully Emily didn’t completely mess up her chances with Paige when she had her colossal brain fart and tried to be with Alison. The plus side to everyone being up front with their relationships is that ‘A’ has one less secret to use against the girls. The downside is that Ezra, Toby, Caleb and Paige remain targets.

7. No good comes from school dances. The DiLaurentis family have sponsored an Ice Ball, which I assume is something Mrs. DiLaurentis arranged before, you know, she ended up in the Hasting’s backyard. Over five seasons there have been many dances on PLL. They’ve taken place on trains, at school, in a country bar, during Halloween, and not one has ended well. I assume the Ice Ball will continue in the disastrous dance tradition.

6. Alison is on her own. The old adage of keep your friends close and your enemies closer definitely applies to Alison. The girls have completely shut her out and while I agree with their decision, there’s a part of me that thinks playing nice with Ali may be the smarter move. Especially since I’m pretty sure she’s capable of murder.

5. The bird may be back. From what we know, Hanna and Spencer are putting their detective hats on (as if Spencer’s ever comes off) and snooping around Alison’s house. Hanna looks to be going it alone for a while and finds a birdcage in Alison’s room. Could this cage be from the same bird that sang Mrs. Grunwald’s phone number back in Season 3? Will we finally understand how the heck the girl’s got a phone number from a singing bird?

4. The injured list is growing. Toby is still nursing the broken leg he suffered after getting into a car accident while driving home from his police academy graduation. This makes him an easy target for ‘A’. It also looks like Hanna may have received a bump to the head, or her high heels are giving her a headache. It’s a 50/50 shot.

3. There will be flashbacks. We already know there will be flashbacks in the Christmas special and on PLL, flashbacks usually mean major clues. Could these past moments help us figure out if it really was Alison who killed Mona? Speaking of…onto number two.

2. Mona is dead. Let’s not forget that the mid-season finale of PLL finished with Aria, Ezra, Hanna, and Emily finding A LOT of blood in Mona’s house. We definitely can’t forget the shot of Mona looking very dead in the trunk of a car. The Christmas special will be our first look at how the girl’s are dealing with Mona’s death.

1. You need to pay attention. Unlike other special Halloween episodes, the Christmas episode will affect the Season 5 storyline. Past Halloween specials aired separate from their respective season and stood alone. Not so for the Christmas special, according to PLL writers, where major plot lines will unfold. So don’t miss it!
