Carly ‘Slay’ Jepsen is continuing her quest to reinvigorate pop music with her second single All That. The Canadian chanteuse did a complete 180 from her first single, I Really Like You, off her upcoming still untitled album, this time slowing things down.
Jepsen crafted a unique and refreshing blend of 1980s pop and R&B for the new single, which has the former Canadian Idol finalist showing off her impressive vocals and lyrical depth.
Jepsen worked with a wide-range of pop heavyweights to write her new album, including Tegan and Sara and Jack Antonoff, who helped pen Taylor Swift’s Out Of The Woods. All That was produced by Dev Hynes and Ariel Rechtshaid, with the two producers boasting names like Florence and the Machine and Beyonce on their resumes.
Jepsen was the musical guest on SNL this past weekend and debuted the new track, sounding flawless on a stage that has turned some of our generation’s best musicians into off-key amateurs.
Carly Rae also performed her single I Really Like You and we still really love it. No word yet on when Jepsen will release her full album, but if it’s anything like the first two singles, we have pop history in the making coming our way.
