Dancing With The Stars Week One: The Results Show

Dancing With The Stars kicked off with a bang on Monday night with a spectacular premiere, but it’s a competition and with that comes our very first elimination. The first results show of the season was filled with lots of great moments, though, and here’s a recap of the top five things from last night’s show:

1. Derek Hough’s audition tape
Fans had the opportunity to vote for the chance to see the original audition tape of one of the show’s professional dancers and viewers were dying to see some throwback Derek Hough. “What is going on?!” Derek said, as he walked down and joined host Tom Bergeron. What followed was a clip of an adorable 21-year-old Derek as he talked about being a dance champ and using the word ‘entertain’ one too many times. Aww!

2. Meet the new professionals
This season, three new professional dancers joined the cast: Allison, Artem and Keo. All three are from different places around the world, but are now on the DWTS stage to help out our celeb contestants in a bid to win the Mirror Ball trophy. The three dancers even introduced themselves in a stunning dance number to Pharrell’s Come Get It Bae.

3. Smokey Robinson duets with Aloe Blacc
The legendary singer teamed up with R&B star Aloe Blacc for a beautiful rendition of My Girl as professionals Mark Ballas and Witney Carson danced along. Surely, this marks the beginning of many incredible performances to come this season.

4. Contestants explain the reason why they’re on DWTS
In a segment, contestants got to reveal the reason why they decided to go on the show and it was inspiring to hear Betsey Johnson say that age wasn’t a matter, Alfonso Ribeiro explain his desire to lose weight and Jonathan Bennett talk about his father’s death. Truly brings more depth to a dancing competition show and gives it a real heart.

5. Our first eliminated star
Olympian Lolo Jones was the first one to be eliminated from the show after she forgot the moves to her performance on premiere night. Unfortunately, that means that we also said goodbye to new cast member Keo.
