Maroon 5 have announced their fifth studio album, naturally titled Five, will be released in full on September 22. We are pretty stoked over this news and are already clearing room in our iTunes folder for the upcoming album.
Sure, lots of great music is released every month, but we are especially excited about Maroon 5′s upcoming album. Here’s why.
1. Maps Is Already Killing It
You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover or an album by its first single, but let’s get real. If Maps was a stinker, we’d be a lot less likely to shell out bills for the full album.
2. No Weak Albums
Remember when Maroon 5 released that one album that was a huge disappointment and didn’t do anything on the charts? No? Neither do we. The band has consistently released quality albums over their 12-year career. Even Hands All Over, Maroon 5′s 2010 record that made the least amount of noise on the charts, still included notable hits like Misery and Moves Like Jagger.
3. Gwen Freaking Stefani
Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine has made good use of his networking skills on The Voice, enlisting the help of Christina Aguilera and now Gwen Stefani on Maroon 5 albums. The No Doubt singer will be coaching for the first time on this season of the singing show and we can’t wait to hear new music from our childhood hero, especially if it will help erase the memory of 2012′s Push and Shove. It. Just. Wasn’t. Good.
4. Music Videos
A band that has always taken music videos seriously, we’re excited to see the new phase in Maroon 5 visuals, whether it’s more mini-movies from the band or cutting-edge graphics.
5. It’s Album Numero Cinco
We feel like if your band has the number ‘five’ in the title and this is your fifth album, it’s gonna be a big, big deal. As we mentioned, Maroon 5 worked with Gwen Stefani on Five, and they also booked studio time with Sia, who seems to turn everything she touches to gold. The new disc also features Lost Stars from Begin Again, Adam Levine’s first major role.
