While The Breakfast Club, Home Alone, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off may be the better known of writer and director John Hughes’ long list of incredible films, we’ve always had a soft spot for Pretty In Pink.
Molly Ringwald’s Andie may have felt self conscious living on the wrong side of the tracks, but she had a car to drive to school, a cool older friend in Annie Potts, a job at an awesome record store, and the unwavering love of her best friend Duckie.
Played by the incredible Jon Cryer, Duckie made his entrance into the record store in a number of ways, including sneaking in the back and setting off the alarms and just walking through the front door like the average joe. But it’s when he dances his way down the vinyl rows to Otis Redding’s Try A Little Tenderness that we truly realize Andie needs to drop rich-boy Blaine and stick with Duckie. What kind of a name is Blaine anyways?
Cryer was a guest on The Late Late Show With James Corden this week and thankfully James finally took advantage of his position as a late night host and recreated the Try A Little Tenderness scene with Cryer. We’ve been waiting YEARS for someone to do this!
Watch The Late Late Show With James Corden every Monday to Friday at 7E/4P on M3.
