Maroon 5 and Gwen Stefani’s ‘My Heart Is Open’ Is Painfully Pretty

What happens when you combine artists with two of the most distinct voices in pop music? A painfully pretty song. At least that’s the case for Maroon 5′s new track My Heart Is Open off their upcoming album V.

The five-piece pop rock band recruited Gwen Stefani, front man Adam Levine’s co-star from The Voice, to perform the heartbreaker of a track.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard new music from Stefani. Her 2012 comeback album with No Doubt came and went pretty quickly, and most recently we heard Stefani sing a line during Chelsea Handler’s farewell episode of Chelsea Lately earlier this week. We want more.

The new collaboration is a welcomed return for Stefani, who has enjoyed a successful solo career and stand-out duets with other artists over the years, including Moby, Eve, and Akon.

Of course for Maroon 5, working with members of The Voice team has proved fruitful in the past. The band’s track Moves Like Jagger with Christina Aguilera is still one of their biggest singles to date.

Maroon 5′s fifth studio album V is set to be released this Tuesday.
