Sam Smith is making history this year, adding his name to the coveted list of musicians who have written and performed their own James Bond theme. Smith is in good company, with artists like Paul McCartney, Madonna, Sheryl Crow and most recently, Adele, already solidifying their spot in spy history.
Smith has now released the video for Writing’s On the Wall, his theme song from Spectre. The video hit the internet on Global James Bond Day, which celebrates the 1962 release of Dr. No, the first film in the James Bond catalogue.
The new video was shot in Rome, with a somber Smith performing in front of caskets, the ocean, and more stunning backdrops, while scenes from the new film are seamlessly spliced in between.
In addition to featuring scenes with Daniel Craig, James Bond himself, fans also get a first look at new characters played by Monica Bellucci and Léa Seydoux. From what we can see, this is shaping up to be one of the best looking Bond films ever.
Writing’s On The Wall has already hit number one on the charts in the UK, making it the first Bond theme to ever do so.
Spectre is set to hit theatres on November 6.
