The First Holiday Song Of The Year Arrives With Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Last Christmas’

The days are getting shorter, the nights are getting colder, the drinks are getting eggnoggier, and pretty soon you won’t be able to step foot inside a store without being inundated with holiday music. Hopefully one of the songs you’ll hear is Carly Rae Jepsen’s new cover of WHAM!’s famous single Last Christmas.

The Canadian pop singer has taken on George Michael’s Christmas classic, continuing her retro them from EMOTION and giving the single even more of an 80s vibe than the original, an impressive feat for a song originally recorded in 1985. Synthesizers FTW.

Jepsen Instagrammed a link to the song today, saying “Winter white. Soft focus. Candy canes. Waves. Here it is- our #LastChristmas WHAM cover. Hope you enjoy it.” We totally did.

Of course, Jepsen isn’t the first artist to cover the famous ode to holiday heartbreak. It’s been translated around the world and covered by English singing artists including Hilary Duff, Jimmy Eat World, Coldplay, Florence and the Machine, Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift.
